New Eyes

Isn't this weird
These are things I pass by every day
But I never really noticed them
Eyeballed them up close
Until she tagged along
And gave me a fresh set of eyes

A girl from another State
She gives me new vision
And makes me see things
That I overlooked before

That graveyard I would just walk past, almost daily
We check out each tombstone
Pick at the moss on the stone slabs
Fiddle with the wrought-iron gates constructed two centuries ago

And then that library in Boston
That I’d normally walk by in my hasty commute
We discover amazing marble staircases inside
Lion statues
Incredible ceiling murals
Beautiful reading rooms from the 1800s

Finding love
Is like finding a fresh pair of eyes
