BLOWTORTURE

A washed-up child-star has grown into a psychotic man and he’s roaming around the Hollywood Hills, melting movie stars’ faces with a blowtorch and ruining their careers...

...

Adonis White used to be one of Hollywood's biggest child stars, practically on the same level as Shirley Temple. But one day there was an accident on a movie set - a stunt gone sour - and his face got burned in a fire. With his cute looks gone, his career died overnight and the public forgot he ever existed.

Flash-forward many years later and now Adonis is a grown, borderline-psychotic man. Years of living in near isolation - locked away within the confines of a spooky Hollywood Hills mansion - has made him snap. Now he's on a blowtorching spree, going around the Hills, burning celebrities' faces off with a blowtorch and destroying their careers in movies/TV. As twisted and delusional as he may be, Adonis sees himself as a new kind of superhero, making a statement about the conditional love that pervades Hollywood. Without a nice face and a good image, he says a person in Hollywood has no value. Only once the shallow outer beauty is destroyed can a person actually discover real beauty, their true value and find unconditional love.

But even though Adonis has good intentions justifying his actions, there are also clear elements of bitterness and jealousy to his character, as well as a longing for the days when he was a star loved by the public, however conditional the public's love for him was...

JOHNNY CRUISE

JOHNNY CRUISE is a Jekyll-and-Hyde-story about a big movie star who is at war with his abusive public persona, which has LITERALLY taken on a life of its own. John (the person) stays secluded inside a mansion high up in the Hollywood Hills while Johnny (the persona) leaves the mansion and does all the movies, premieres, press events, charity events, interviews, talk show appearances etc. John desperately wants to leave the house and show the public the REAL him, but Johnny abusively makes him stay inside, warning him that the public won't like what it sees and his career will be ruined.

Overall, JOHNNY CRUISE is an American tragedy about the importance of being/honoring yourself vs. being what others want you to be.

SUPERMARKET ZOMBIES!

A giant, Walmart-like superstore makes a deal with a shadowy Haitian witch-doctor and obtains a group of zombies who will work long hours and for no pay. The store's profits skyrocket with its new cheap labor but soon the zombies get hungry for brains and the rest of the store employees start turning into zombies as well...

But there's one skater-punk cashier named Jason Hawk who doesn't give his brain up so easily.

After getting arrested for skating a totally rad (but private) pool, Jay's parents force him to give up his punk ways and get a mundane job at the local American Supermarket. Bummer!

At first, Jay's new job is boring as hell and painfully uneventful...that is, until some strange-looking new employees start working the front end and all the other employees gradually start turning into zombies. One morning, Jay arrives at work only to find that he is surrounded by an ENTIRE supermarket full of zombies! He tries to escape, but his best friend Cuddy and new girlfriend Krystal are trapped in the store and need his help. He's got to rescue them!

Thus ensues a gruesome battle to the death. Using his skateboard as a weapon, Jay fights to keep his brain from getting eaten and his human spirit alive. It's skaters vs. zombies! Who is going to prevail?!

Influenced by the five years I worked as a cashier at two different supermarkets, SUPERMARKET ZOMBIES! is a post-apocalyptic 'punk novel' that also integrates my love of skateboarding, punk rock and an overall Oi Oi Oi attitude!

REEL MONSTER

REEL MONSTER is a story about two misfit teens who find a magic VCR that enables them to pull their favorite movie star (Johnny Cruise) out of the movies and into the real world. With Johnny as their new friend, the two teens try to become the most popular kids in their high school and win over the girls of their dreams.

In the spirit of John Hughes movies like WEIRD SCIENCE and other fun 1980s teen flicks, REEL MONSTER is mostly a fun teenager story inspired by Burns' days at high school and the fantasies of his youth.

O TERRIBLE!

O TERRIBLE! is about a young writer trying to follow his dream in a hostile world that tries everything it can to make him abandon that dream. It's also a story about how failure and unhappiness can sometimes be essential to the growth of the human spirit. In a place like America where so much value has been put into (financial) success, spiritual growth has been hindered, if not stopped completely.
